The past ten years have been good to National American Sales Corporation. The Thibodaux-based company sells cleaning supplies to commercial customers in south Louisiana and east Texas, according to Robert Larose of Thibodaux. Larose is operations manager of the company in which he is a partner with four others: Wilbur Morvant of Raceland, Paul Bouterie, Mike Small and Frank Laughlin of Napoleonville. These four partners handle outside sales, according to Larose.
National American Sales distributes custom manufactured and packaged cleaning products directly to customers who are end-users of the products.
"We sell to a really wide spectrum of companies -- from apartments to hospitals to schools to businesses to shipyards -- you name it!" Larose explained, "Anybody who is involved in cleaning and maintaining buildings is a potential customer for us."
Larose attributes the fact that the company has continued to grow during a sluggish economy to two factors: experienced management and good product selection. All five partners gained experience in this type of business while working for a similar company. In 1983, they tucked that experience under their belts and decided to strike out on their own. The gamble paid off, and today National American Sales employs 17 persons.
Regarding product selection, Larose said his company chose among the best products offered by manufacturers throughout the South. In addition, the company offers a wide range of products -- everything from interior maintenance supplies to buildingds and grounds maintenance. This allows many customers to do "one-stop shopping" for all their cleaning supply needs.
"We've been successful and we've been lucky over the past ten years, especially when you consider how times were when we first went into business, " Larose commented. "We've made a lot of progress and we're well satisfied. We feel good about the future."
